Una escapada al paraíso / A runaway to paradise - El Bolsón, Río Negro, Patagonia (English version below)

Enero, el típico mes para irse de la ciudad. Mi mujer y yo elegimos este año ir a El Bolsón (por cuestiones vacacionales y familiares), lugar que conocíamos pero en donde nunca la pasamos tan bien como en esta oportunidad. Se encuentra a 1702 km de Buenos Aires y a 120 km de San Carlos de Bariloche.

Para los que quieren pasar una temporada disfrutando de la paz del bosque, el murmullo del río, la excelente comida casera y la posibilidad de conocer nuevos amigos: no lo duden, quédense en el Albergue Gaia, eso hicimos nosotros y nos encantó. Los desayunos con tortas caseras, el cordero patagónico (tres horas de cocción) y la trucha asada fueron algunos de los gustos que nos dimos en el Gaia.

Lugares interesantes que visitamos en El Bolsón:

Feria Artesanal (siempre tiene algo interesante, nunca todo)

Cervecería El Bolsón (la cerveza artesanal es excelente y muy variada; la picada con queso fundido realmente vale la pena)

También anduvimos algo por la zona: fuimos a Lago Puelo, en la Provincia de Chubut, a unos 15 o 20 km de El Bolsón. El lugar ideal para los que quieren disfrutar de un lago con aguas bastante tibias para la zona, el paisaje es hermoso y los bosques de los alrededores también. Consejo: si aprecian la paz y la tranquilidad eviten ir durante el fin de semana (la playa se llena, literalmente) y tengan en cuenta que hay que pagar el acceso a Parques Nacionales: $ 10 por persona.

Otro lugar que visitamos fue la zona de Cholila (Chubut, a 81 km de El Bolsón). El lago Cholila, al pie del cerro Tres Picos, de acceso no muy sencillo, es increíblemente hermoso. Visitamos el puesto de estancia en el que vivieron los famosos bandoleros Butch Cassidy y Sundance Kid, un pequeño viaje en el tiempo y, a sólo 300 metros de allí, tomamos el mejor té galés de nuestras vidas en Casa de Piedra (en inglés, la referencia al lugar está al final del artículo).

January is the top month for leaving the city and for leisure and family issues my wife and I chose this year to go to El Bolson. We have already known the place but we have never enjoyed it as we had at this time. El Bolson is located 1702 km from Buenos Aires and 120 km from San Carlos de Bariloche.

For those who want to spend some time enjoying the peace of the forest, the murmur of the river, the excellent home cooking and want to have the chance to meet new friends, make no mistake, stay at the Gaia Hostel, we did so and we loved it. Breakfast with homemade cakes, the Patagonian lamb (three hours of cooking) and grilled trout were some of the delicatessen that we enjoyed in the Gaia.

Interesting places to visit in El Bolson:

Open market  (in Spanish) always has something interesting, never all

Cerveceria El Bolson (in Spanish) craft beer is excellent and varied, the snack bar with melted cheese really worth it

We visited other locations in the area as Puelo Lake, in Chubut province, about 15 or 20 km from El Bolson. Is the ideal place for those who want to enjoy a lake with warm water (at least for patagonic standards) the landscape and surrounding woods are beautiful. Tip: If you appreciate peace and quiet avoid going during weekends (the beach gets full) and take into account the need to pay for access to National Parks: $ 10 per person.

Another place we visited was the area of Cholila (a tiny town in Chubut province, 81 km from El Bolson). The Cholila lake, at the foot of Cerro Tres Picos, has no easy access but is incredibly beautiful. We visited the cabin in which lived Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, a small trip back in time; only 300 meters away, we take the best Welsh tea in our lives at Casa de Piedra.
